COMPOSITION SUR FOND BLEU TEA TOWEL
Description
The ‘Composition sur fond bleu’ tea towel is a reinterpretation of Henri Matisse’s eponymous work.
Created in the final years of his career, Composition sur fond bleu belongs to the famous series of cut-out gouaches. Using a technique that Matisse described as ‘drawing with scissors,’ the artist cut shapes out of gouache-painted paper and then assembled them to create free and dynamic compositions. Against a deep blue background, organic and graphic shapes unfold with lightness, playing with contrasts and colour balance.
The ‘Composition sur fond bleu’ tea towel is part of our ‘Masterpieces’ collection. The Masterpieces collection celebrates the alliance between art and textile expertise, transforming works by great artists into jacquard weaves.
Entirely designed and woven in France, in our workshop in Orthez
