The “Nu Bleu I” tea towel is a reinterpretation of Henri Matisse's eponymous painting.
Nu bleu I (1952) by Henri Matisse is an iconic work from his series of paper cut-outs, created at the end of his career. It depicts a nude female figure, stylized in flat areas of intense blue, cut directly from gouache-painted paper. This technique, which he called "drawing with scissors," allowed him to play with form and space in a fluid and expressive way.
