In Orthez, the looms of Maison Moutet have never ceased to beat. Two labels now recognize what our family and our weavers have perpetuated for generations: linen woven here, with care, to last.
LIVING HERITAGE COMPANY
Created by the State in 2005, the EPV label distinguishes French companies that possess rare, ancestral, or highly technical know-how, deeply rooted in their region. Awarded for a renewable five-year period, it currently brings together more than 1,400 exceptional companies in France — a national and international recognition, reserved for a minority that embodies artisanal excellence.
Tissage Moutet has been EPV certified since 2006.
GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION BASQUE LINEN
Approved by the INPI on November 13, 2020, the Basque Linen GI guarantees consumers the authenticity and local origin of their purchase. It covers the entire process—from warping to weaving, right through to manufacturing—which must take place in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. A strict guarantee that protects ancestral craftsmanship from any counterfeiting.
Today, only two companies are approved for Basque Linen GI. Tissage Moutet is one of them.
A FAMILY HOME
At Moutet, weaving is a matter of heritage. From generation to generation, the House has remained faithful to its Béarn workshop and to those who bring it to life. Every weaver, every warper, every seamstress learns alongside the most experienced staff, then in turn passes on the skills that ensure the quality of each piece.
It is this continuity, more than any words, that our labels recognize.
